Vents < 0.8 mm have no acoustic effect and are used for pressure or comfort venting. Depending on the size, vents > 1.0 mm show a decrease in the gain in the low frequencies below 1000 Hz. A decrease at 6000 Hz can also be seen with an ‘open’ vent. A large vent gives a higher risk of feedback at high gains.
Vario venting:
Standard Pluggerz supplies earpieces with vario venting. The vario venting is 2.5 mm with the exception of the lower part. The advantage here is that you can easily and quickly drill out the vent, since this only needs to be done on one side.
Power venting:
The power venting is an extended vent that continues into the concha ring of an earpiece. Due to the longer path of this venting, there is less chance of feedback. Suitable for severe hearing loss.
